Online therapy & COVID

Online Therapy –  have your appointments conducted online.

Psychological therapy can readily be adapted to the online medium. We have secure and reliable e-platforms to make the conversations easy and professional. No extra fuss at the client end; you simply receive an email providing you with a URL to clink on to commence the appointment. Privacy is good and the platform used does not save client details or conversation content.

Appointments are still made by calling our phone number 02 98911766.

For our existing clients, you will be advised of these options prior to your appointment.

New clients will need to call and have a mini-assessment over the phone so we can get to know each other and ensure that we are both confident that tele-health is the right mode for you.

Online therapy can sometimes miss some of the elements that are inherent in standard appointments face-to-face. However, we can take steps together to make the therapy as effective as possible. You can read or download a guide to making the most of tele-health psychology sessions here.

While we have been offering online consultations for some time now, the corona virus is the main reason that people are adopting this option now. This virus poses unique stressors, including the way that the problem and the government responses keeps shifting and growing a few times each week. We do not know what we are dealing with, so our coping resources can’t match it – it is not clear how sick we might get, what will be the next restriction called and when will all the restrictions be over. We have developed a free tip sheet to help you manage the mood changes associated with the threat posed by the virus. Download it here.

PRACTICE GUIDELINES

We want you to know that we have  policies and procedures in place to keep our clients, their families and our staff safe. We are observing advised social distancing, so please do not take it personally if we do not shake hands or get too close when you arrive. We also provide all people attending the practice with hand sanitiser.

Further, our psychologists (and administrative team) will be staying away from the practice if they have any symptoms of a cold or flu until they have been confirmed safe to return. If this happens to your psychologist, you will be advised in advance and you will have the option of rescheduling or conducting the appointment using our preferred online web provider. We also ask all clients to let us know in advance if you have and symptoms of a cold or flu. Even if you think it is minor, please do not come in. We can either reschedule or have an online consultation.
